This is a very spectacular, fragrant flowering tree. It’s native to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Myanmar. It grows well here, but definitely isn’t as widely planted as the Gold Medallion tree (Cassia leptophylla) which is widely used here as a street tree. Photo taken August 16, 2022.

What was most impressive was a beautiful, 15 ft tall extremely lush guanabana (soursop Annona muricata) tree around the corner. They grow here, but just don’t usually look really good, especially in winter. They hate the Santa Ana winds which are extremely hot, dry during fall and winter! It probably looks good because of the very hot, humid weather we’ve had for many weeks now.
