I have never seen the adult, maybe they don’t survive the winter after they pupate.

They have pupated and emerged for us in east Yorks Feverfew, but they are typically night fliers and their pink and green markings makes excellent camouflage during the day.

I’d love to see one. I’ve only seen the Private hawk moth in Surrey, which was quite impressive.

That’s supposed to be Privet hawk moth! Not sure whether it was a typo or this IPad which sometimes corrects thing as it thinks fit.
