The 'best' azalea I ever grew was the one with the white flowers! That was a magnificent display. This azalea is a very close second. Last year, the floral display, a dark pink, was beautiful. Following the fall of the petals, the plant really grew, with many leafy branches. I am quite surprised as to how sparing the leaves are now! Let's see how she grows!

Ah! I didn’t cut back after flowering! I let the plant grow! Yes I have ericaceous soil in the pot. Thank you for your help.

Try just cutting back by a third after flowering, and if there is any dead wood cut it from the plant, but don't be too severe on this woody plant. My grandad always told me that anything that flowers before June cut back end June-July and anything after that, cut back November, December. It's just a general helpful rule and plants like Cosmos that flower all summer, keep deadheading and they continue to flower. I give my Azaleas, rhododendrons a feed twice a year.

Azaleas rhododendrons, and camellias, like an ericaceous feed to give them a boost. Cut back after flowering. Hope this helps.
