Stan,
Yes, I’ve seen large macadamia nuts trees in the SF Bay Area. It’s a very hardy tree. Of course, huge, beautiful avocado trees are grown everywhere up there, too.
It’s been warm here, too. 80 to 90 degrees here the last 3 days. I’m so enjoying this warm weather.

Kate,
It’s a beautiful Victorian house, also!
All the avocado trees have been flowering for the last couple of months. Depending on the variety they can flower any time from December - May. Some varieties can almost take a year to ripen, most take 6 to 9 months.

GreenGardenGuy on utube used to live in Fremont before retiring to Hawaii. He said the Macadamia he grew in Fremont were just as good as the Hawaiian grown. They just take longer to build up the flavor on the tree.
I wish I had planted grafted tropical fruit trees instead of seed grown. Same for named bananas.

I remember him. I think he lived close to where I lived in Mission San Jose, Fremont.
I think Mission San Jose is probably the best or one of the best micro-climates for tropicals in the SF Bay Area (Sunnyvale and Santa Clara are, also).

Avocado to the left. Although both grow in the bay area, it would be a dream to have that large yard in San Diego. We just started our first long spell of warm here- 70F's.
