East facing border in the Spring.

East facing border in the Spring.

I am pleased to see this border has filled out well. The 'borrowed' trees from next door are great too!

Now that is really neat, Shirley, and looks very attractive with all the contrasting shapes and shades. I have been pruning osmanthus delavayi (first time in 6 years!) and holly with my heart in my mouth today as I am leery of cutting back shrubs. P'raps I should be more adventurous if the end result looks more like this!

Looks perfect Shirley...those background trees are just right as a backcloth.
Ange, the Osmanthus here has a trim 2xyear with no ill effects...don't worry.

Your border looks so colourful. A lovely selection of shrubs.

Loving the different shrubs and colours all standing perfectly well along side each other! Such interest going on in this area of your garden, Shirley.

Thank you Kate for your kind words ... am trying hard to make the garden more low maintenance with shrubs rather than annuals.
