Thank you for your comments folks. The gardens are lovely every year & I always make a point of seeing them. They were planted up during the drought when all our gardens were suffering, but of course these were well irrigated ( one had to dodge the sprinklers)! The sides of the castle mound are left wild, mostly long grass.
