This one has Shirleys favourite name 'Jude the Obscure'. Why it has this uncomplementary name, we didn't know. It has a lovely apricot scent.

It's a beauty, colour and the scent too I imagine. I'm guessing it's after the Hardy novel, which was full of woe!

A really special rose …

Yes, Austin did choose some 'different' names for their roses. Hardy is hardly a laugh a minute! However, I have to say their 'old names' were so much more evocative than their new ones: "Dannahue" anyone?
This is a gorgeous one, anyway!

Thanks girls, it is a very pretty colour and wonderful scent. Yes from the Thomas Hardy novel. I only ploughed halfway through it years ago! It does hide it's centre till the very last minute then all the petals drop...maybe that is the relevance.
My sister is called Jude, so I think of this Rose as hers..:)
