Aphelandra squarrosa - Zebra Plant Flowers

My zebra plant is flowering right now. I purchased it two months ago when the buds were starting to emerge. It will go outside in the ground under shade in a month. I had one outside in the ground many years ago. It grew very well. Photo taken on February 16, 2024.

I may have to ask you for some advice. The last time I grew this plant was at my other house (more than 20 years ago). It did well in the ground. Unfortunately, I left it.

Thanks! It’s a houseplant for most of the US, also. The leaves tend to dry up as a houseplant and it rarely blooms, not unless given very high light indoors.

Yes, it’ll look good outside in the front of the house, in shade. It’s difficult to keep them alive in the house. I spray this one every day with water.
