My first Almond Blossom

My first Almond Blossom

The Almond lives! Crikey though, what a grey winter we’re still having. Today it didn’t rain at least. We got so fed up waiting for a brighter day that we decided to just head out anyway, in the gloom. We drove to Sherborne (lovely stone built market town) about 17 miles away, so I could visit the Abbey there. And it was worth it. I have never seen such a beautiful Parish Church in my life! Fascinating, well loved with plenty of wealthy Parishoners to keep it pristine. Well worth a visit. It has the finest fan vaulted roof I’ve ever seen, and the heaviest 8 bell peal in the world! I’d love to hear those bells! The East window is modern and extraordinarily beautiful and so colourful. Honestly, there is so much to see there. It would take several visits! Sadly the cloister is long gone and part of the school built over it. But even that is very lovely to see. Back home after a couple of hours to build yet more flat-packed furniture. But it’s a lovely home to welcome us back. :)

I like Sherborne, too, a very attractive little town. We've been there a few times over the years.
Glad you're settling in well and that the almond brings happiness.

That's a pretty blossom, Karen. I do like the form and colour. Pleased to see your Almond is thriving for you! It's good to hear you're settling in well and discovering your lovely surroundings and the history too.

There's something so heartwarming about Spring blossom ... this is a lovely photo.

Thank you Shirley. Today I saw one of the best cherry blossom trees I’ve ever seen! So much pale pink blossom. It was like a fairy tale tree! Sadly I was driving at the time and couldn’t stop. But if I go down to Gillingham again this weekend I will snap it. It wasn’t in a garden, it was on a verge!

Karen, there is a road, well more of a cul-de-sac, nearby where alternate white and pink blossom trees were planted on the grass verges.

I remember them as a child but many have now gone, possibly due to their roots lifting up the pavement!

They do do that don’t they?

I did actually trip over and hurt my shoulder when landing some years ago! A couple of roofers rushed over and asked if I needed an ambulance ... they seemed quite disappointed when I said 'No thanks'!
