Bergenia ‘Eroica’

I grew Bergenia in my first garden, mainly for its evergreen foliage. Then I went off it, until I saw Linda’s in her Glasgow garden and since then I have been adding it again. The landscapers on this development have used them a lot because they like clay soil. I must say, the ones I forced into the heavy waterlogged clay here have all really taken off and are looking resplendent. I particularly like Eroica because its leaves colour up really well in the cold, and the flowers are strong.

No Julia…this is the smallest of all of our gardens, although the very first, in Dundee city wasn’t too much bigger really. I think a small garden is just what I need now. The aches and pains don’t get any easier do they?

Thanks Janey, yes! So am I. Some more plants arrived today and they are all in great shape!

Thanks Julia. It’s deciding what to include that’s the hard part, but it’s fun too. I like a challenge. In Scotland I could grow whatever I wanted. There was so much space. Here it’s going to need a lot more thought.
