My OH insists on calling them Purple Bindweed!

Purple bindweed, indeed! 🤣 🤣 🤣 They would then also be called Pink, White, Red, Sky Blue Bindweed then! Yet on the other hand he is right as they are a form of bindweed! Convolvulus are after all bindweeds, only ones that we cultivate, apart from being annuls.

In our "lawn" we have lots of Field Bindweed which is quite pretty when there are 100s of flowers open but I've made a narrow area in front of the balcony that I keep weed, & grass, free so they don't feel inclined to want to move onto the balcony! Even so I have to remove as much as possible of the roots as they sprout again & again & can make significant progress in only 2 or 3 weeds if left unchecked!

There's always something to be kept in check for us gardeners!

After I pulled out all the weeds a week ago today there are 100s of weed seedlings germinating now! In a couple of weeks I will have to repeat last week's exercise again!

I will have to have a look at the narrow strip of soil in front of the balcony again. Though we haven't had much rain a couple of Saturdays ago it rained most of the day which made me have to get the bus to go downtown to do a little bit of shopping & then come back on the bus. I haven't done that in years!

It has a very, very wet day for us today ... :o(
