South-East facing corner revamp.

South-East facing corner revamp.

My new Viburnum arrived which prompted a bit of a revamp of this corner. I removed Penstemon Westminster Belle x3 which grew very large and a bit tatty but hardly produced any flowers. Tbh they were an impulse buy to fill the space because I hadn’t planned well enough for this corner. So…they came out and I planted a lovely semi-evergreen Viburnum x hilleri ‘Winton’ which will fill this space beautifully and probably need a lot of pruning in time. I also moved my Amelanchier ‘American Pillar’ from the front to the back. It’s just as well as I discovered it was waterlogged after the heavy rain we had yesterday. So that was a good decision. It was inevitable that some herbaceous would be replaced with shrubs. You know me! I’m a tree and shrub lady. It’s all about structure for me. It’s a grey old day here, and more rain to come Wednesday and Thursday. And it’s suddenly got very dark hasn’t it? Autumn is here! Good news…our Son Callum has booked flights to come home from Calgary for Christmas. :)

Grey day here too, but I got on with planting some dwarf Wallflowers after removing a big old Viburnum.

Yesterday we commented that Sunday was the Autumn Equinox and a local garden centre has already got some Christmas stuff out on display. It makes me so cross!

It will be lovely for Callum to be with you ... my daughter and partner are going to stay with friends in New York for Christmas.

Well, that will be different for them Shirley. I visited NY for my 40th birthday. Once was enough for me.

Karen, it doesn't appeal to me at all, but they have known these friends for some years and there is now a 4 month old baby, so travelling to the UK is not on their agenda!

I hope they have a great time! X

Thanks Karen. The American friends came over here 2 years ago and wanted to do 'anything British' so they went to Goodwood Revival (in costume), had an afternoon tea, ate crumpets, had fish 'n chips by the beach etc. and loved it all!

As we all do! :)
