Red Plumeria

Red Plumeria (Plumeria)

My giant plumeria (15 ft tall and 23 ft wide) had only one flower spike all summer. Now, that it’s Fall its developed dozens of flower spikes. It doesn’t know what time of year it is. Crazy! Photo taken October 12, 2024.

When the time is right, it's right! These older Plumerias know when the time is right for them. I have three Plumeria rubras and they have their own cycles! They can be crazy too!

Yes, you’re completely correct. I usually say that about plants and trees. They know when to grow and flower, it’s not what we want them to do. 😂

I have a Celadine plumeria under this big plumeria tree. It flowers pretty well, but hasn’t grown much over the last 8 years. It’s too shaded.

I have so many plumerias, I need to give some away.

Plumerias are such a common sight in gardens here, but they always reward the gardener with their beautiful flowers. I'm sure if you give away some of your Plumerias, the recipients will be ever so grateful.

Plumerias have been popular here for many decades. They’ve gotten extremely popular over the last 20 plus years because of the Plumeria Society and their drought tolerance.

I sell my plumerias, also. I was very lucky to get so many varieties of my many plumerias from cuttings from people. Many times, people love to share their plumeria cuttings.

I'd love to take a few off your hands, Andy, but I'm very much afraid they wouldn't like our climate - far too cold for them!

The first time I ever saw one was when my wife got a new laptop, many years ago, &a Plumeria was set as her desktop background! I liked it so much that I asked her to send me a copy & then I had it set as my desktop computer background as well!

Balcony,

I’ve posted probably a few hundred pics of plumeria trees here on GoY over the last 16 years.

Plumerias do need a lot of heat and to bloom. If they don’t get enough heat they just won’t bloom. They need a lot of heat to get them out of dormancy, also.
