Rose ‘Silky Smooth’

Rose ‘Silky Smooth’

A tall and fabulously healthy red Tea Rose. I think the lesson here is if you want to avoid black spot etc, search out the roses with the darkest, glossiest leaves.

That's good information ... I have been gathering up fallen Rose foliage today as Blackspot is on all of it ... :o(

Mine too Shirley. This one looks to be a very strong grower Karen and probably better to deal with climate change too.

Thanks ladies. Yes, a lovely healthy rose. This year I learned that a way to reduce the dreaded spot is a regular feed with liquid seaweed, such as Maxicrop. Every 2 weeks through till end of summer. Advice from Peter Beale's you tube channel.

I do use liquid seaweed for my garden and pots, and even my lovely Compassion has succumbed this year...:((

Karen, that's excellent information. Today I have been removing lots of Forget-me-nots, from tiny to large, and there were so many fallen Rose leaves around, impossible to pick them all up so I just know the problem will be back next year.

I know I am guilty of under feeding my roses. I am definitely going to mulch them with muck this year. Now I only have a few it will be easier to give them more attention. It’s one of the great joys of a small garden..you have time for attention to detail!
