Dimocarpus longan ‘Kohala’

My Kohala longan is ripening late this year. Typically, longan ripens in September here in San Diego, CA. The tree had a lot more fruit, but the water wasn’t getting to the roots, so it aborted a lot of fruit and leaves. Photo taken October 15, 2024.

Thanks for that. The name just came up. When I looked it up on here your photos of it going back to 2008 popped up. That's a good age for a fruit tree.

I purchased this longan tree 3 or 4 years ago. It’s an air-layered tree. This variety produces very sweet fruit. I think it tastes sweeter and overall better than most lychee.
