Licuala ramsayi - Australian Fan Palms

These two Australian fan palms are growing very well at the San Diego Zoo. Australian fan palms are painfully slow in California. It can be grown outside from the San Francisco Bay Area down to San Diego, however rarely grow more than 10 to 12 ft. (Compare to it’s native Queensland where it grows to 82 ft (25 m) tall.
