My Regal Shield Elephants Ears is semi-dormant right now. It still looks pretty good. Photo taken January 18, 2025.

I'm starting to appreciate these Alocasias and Colocasias more and more. They look fabulous and don't mind the conditions here.

They typically grow fast and look good all the time. Most Alocasia species are pretty drought tolerant even though in summer they love water.

That's exactly why I am beginning to love them so much. They tolerate our long dry and they can get through a monsoonal wet season. Exactly what's needed here.

They are tough. If they don’t like the weather conditions, they will go dormant until their conditions improve.
