Before and after pic finally got round to lifting and dividing and pieced back together got 3 pieces out of it, hoping it will do OK, also an abelia had grown over it, which I decided to cut back on the right, it had got very leggy

Looks like you've done a really good job Jane. I have a similar problem with violets growing through my hakenachloa fountain grass. I will try to do the same as you..:)

Thanks Janey, it was the classic doughnut shape, I have a hackoneckloa I want to move too, nothing growing in it though thankfully :-)

It's the ideal time for moving and/or dividing the lovely hakenachloa grass ... perfect :)

I really struggled to split mine using two forks back to back yesterday - it was such a dry clump! Luckily my friend managed to help (much stronger than me!) 🙂.

Mine wasn't too bad probably as it was mostly around the edge but some are much harder to get out arent they, hubby helps me thankfully, a daylily we split was quite tough :-)
