I sometimes wonder if they can tell the difference between air and water, they are right at home in either!

lassie started swimming when she was seven weeks old. a frisby got blown into the sea and she went after it with no hesitation. she swims every day through the summer. I think they have to swim when very young to learn to enjoy it

Maybe so! All of the labs I have had have loved to swim, from the very first one I had as a teenager in Houston, Texas. He used to swim in Buffalo Bayou! Which is the largest fresh waterway through the city. Bella the lab we have now is the 1st one that would go completely underwater, head and all!

i believe they were first bred by the fishermen of labrador to retrieve salmon that had fallen back into the water, surprising how many dont swim though. i think they need introducing to the water at a young age as yours probably were. Lassie will put her head under water when she tries to retrieve small trout that ive thrown back. she certainly is as much at home in the water as she is on land.
