It's not blackberry, we compared the plants. You are right. In this state if you stand still too long you will be covered in blackberry bushes. They cover whole barns for goodness sake.
One gardener I spoke to thinks it is boysenberry. I've sent the picture to Gardening with Cisco (heard of him?) so we'll see what he says.

LOL! Yep we live in the same part of the state for sure! Years ago when I was living in Bellingham there was one of those funny maps put out by wwsu. and it showed the freeway and cars with people in them, like Canadians coming from the border on their shopping trips ay? and different locations with funny cartoon drawings & remarks, and they had spots with blackberry bushes and skeletons in them and all entwined! I wish now I would have bought one! If is boysenberry how lucky for you! Yum Yummy!
