Yes, at first glance,
I thought it was Lassie.
Then I realised it wasn't doing the doggie paddle. LOL

Great shot, Islander.
More pics of the islands and the wildlife would be great. My son is esp. interested in seeing and hearing what the Orkneys are like.

Hi Islander! I lived in northern Ontario at a place called Moose Factory...on James and Hudson Bay...the population there, both native and white were descendants of the hardy seafarers of the Orkney's. How ironic that I saw a similar sight there.... a seal popped his head out of the water and looked around for humans...and since I was sitting still he took me for part of the scenery...when he figured he was alone...he hauled himself out of the water up onto a pontoon dock and enjoyed some sun!! wonderful creatures!

hi lori, most of the boats that transported goods for the hudson bay company used to stop here in orkney to load up thier supplies for crossing the atlantic, and the original well that they got the water supplies from has been preserved in the seaport called stromness. I can imagine being seafaring men a lot of the locals ended upworking on these ships and also I should guess the more adventuress ones would have grabbed the opportunity to settle in a new land to try and make thier fortunes. the seals hear are very wary of humans and tend to keep thier distance but it is nice to see them
take care Boyd
