I'm not sure what kind of palm this is........maybe a Japanese??? not sure, but it was quite small when I bought it back in 1998. It's now in a 30 gallon tub and I can hardly get it out of the door in the spring. It loves it outside for the summer. This pic doesn't even show the whole plant. It's my favorite palm !

They're not really delicate Lori, actually quite tough (thick) towards the stem. I'm not sure what kind of root this has.......I can't remember. It wasn't an easy job transplanting it........I mix my own potting soil in a 30 gallon tub so once it was in the tub I was transferring it to, it was easy. I get my husband to help me with the big guys........I have my tropical Ginger in a 30 gallon tub too. He moves them in and out with a dolly. The tubs have a heavy rope handle on each side so that makes it easier to move them around too. They get watered every day during the summer but only once a week in the winter.

Is there room inside to move around after it comes in for the winter...LOL..I have a monstera philodendron that lives in my kitchen and owns it too......call it the jungle...it is tied to the ceiling so it cannot be moved... the cats love living around it....

Wow! That's so pretty! the fans look delicate. 30 gallons...OMG...how do you manage that? are palms tap or fibrous rooted? That sure is a lot of soil...must be a big watering job too, huh?
