Front of One

Front of One

Looking up the valley north around one of the plutons from an outcrop where we lunched. I hadn't realized autumn had come by so swiftly. The back hills would be all yellows but for a large fire took everything a few years ago.

Thanks Hywel. I just kept staring at these guys just perched out there, and through the winter as well!

It's surprising how those trees can grow there. There must be soil in the crevaces.

Those trees are probably much older than they look. nature's bonsai...their growth is very slow. I remember the swamp fir up north..they appeared stunted and were covered with mosses and lichens...I was told that they were very very old even though they were not very tall...masters of adaptation.

They might crush the rock for their soil even...lol. I do agree they are much older than they look. Really impressive their fortitude
