Cresta di gallo taken yesterday - it seems to be getting bigger and bigger (that's my hand bending it down a bit to get a better shot - gives you idea of its size)

It's very unusual.

Apparently it's called Celosia cristata cockscomb and the flowerhead is really firm and hard to touch - this is taller than me and I'm 5' 7"

Thanks everybody - this striking bloom has grown even more, I'd say about a third more than this photo - everybody remarks on it when they walk past and I dread that someone will just "pick" it when no one ìs looking .....(it happened last year and I was so annoyed and upset). That's one of the drawbacks of having a "garden" on the pavement !!
