is this in Red Cow Village Exeter?Or am I off on a wild cow chase?

16 Sep, 2008

Arlene ~ good try, but you need to chase much more to the east.

16 Sep, 2008

My dad was from Lowestoft-getting warmer?

16 Sep, 2008

Now go South ....

16 Sep, 2008

Chelmsford?

16 Sep, 2008

That's very close indeed.
Well done, Arlene !
Did you cheat a little -
maybe a bit of Googling ???

16 Sep, 2008

caught red handed m'am!
When we were somewhere recently we came across a signpost to Secret Defence Headquarters which gave us a bit of a chuckle!

16 Sep, 2008

I do have a photo of the Wellie Olympics HQ.
It might eventually appear out of the pipeline.

16 Sep, 2008

looking forward to it!

16 Sep, 2008

Your enthusiasm and interest is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your input. :o)

16 Sep, 2008

Ah, Xela, thanks for the 'like'.
I've been instructed that when this picture exceeds 20 likes, I'm permitted to upload the next photo.

That will be the one taken at the end of Cow Watering Lane, which is reputed to be the secret training HQ of the GoY Wellie Olympics team.

17 Sep, 2008

Thanks, Terry 60.
Only 16 to go and I'll be forced to reveal the secret training HQ. :o)

18 Sep, 2008

I can just see us all trooping down here following a herd of cows. Good job most of us will be wearing boots.

18 Sep, 2008

Maybe not in concrete boots, like Helen60garden has just uploaded. :o)
Wow, the road sign only needs another 15 likes now.
This is getting SO exciting.

18 Sep, 2008

Does anyone own a big enough watering can i wonder? lol ok poor i know but couldn't resist. good pic

19 Sep, 2008

Fifi ~ you've raised the 'like' total to eight !
Well done.
Maybe a big watering can is just what we need to reach 21 'likes'.
Then I'm forced to guide everyone along Cow Watering Lane to reveal the GoY Wellie Olympics Training HQ.
The alleged HQ really is at the end of this lane, and I couldn't resist taking its photo.:o)

20 Sep, 2008

Go on lets have a look more votes please. I've go a fairly big red watering can but not to sure its big enough for our purpose. :~))

22 Sep, 2008

Thanks. Fifi. I needed a cheerful comment today.
My dog was placed first in Trick Class at the charity show on Saturday.
He did his gardening routine really well....
raking, mowing, etc. ~.
GoY would have been really proud of him.
He won an engraved shield.
Then a jealous person stole his trophy from back of the car.
Not the end of the world, but not nice.

22 Sep, 2008

This sort of thing makes my blood boil TT - WHY do they do it? What on earth do they achieve by such a senseless act ??

22 Sep, 2008

Thanks, Terry60.
I think it was jealousy.
There were far more 'valuable' items, but he took what he knew would hurt. ('He' because I know who did it...)
Thanks goodness he didn't target my dogs.

Conker the Sheltie likes to look at the GoY photos.
This gives us good ideas for his gardening tricks. :o)
Eventually I'll upload some photos of his garden routines.
They are on my camera, which is not digital, so I'm waiting for the film to be used up.

Sometimes I include a toy hedgehog in the trick....
Conker finds it, and brings it.
Last evening, most unusually, there was a REAL hedgehog, right outside the back door. Conker wasn't sure whether to fetch it....

22 Sep, 2008

Well give Conker a big sloppy congratulatory hug from us all and tell him that it doesn't really matter who or (how HE) ends up with the trophy - it's who WON it and deserves it that counts.

22 Sep, 2008

Thanks.
Knowing that people care helps a lot. :o)

22 Sep, 2008

Hi TT
there are some mean people about!-give Conker some extra treats and treat yourself as well -you deserve it!
Arlene

22 Sep, 2008

Thanks, Arlene.
My dogs' greatest treat is to have fun doing extra tricks.:o)
Yesterday in the sunny garden, both were out there with their toy mowers.
It was a real giggle.

22 Sep, 2008

That stinks some people should not compete or even go to events like this if they can't go with the spirit of it. I'd put a formal complaint in but thats me if you can prove its him he should be barred however i must advice tact if no proof cos we don't want him having any excuse to go even lower in his acts of green eyed mosterness, if you can get lower than a snakes belly.

As long as you and the furries enjoyed and everyone knows who the real winners were thats all that matters besides it must be a sad life for him to only get a prize by stealing it. Cheaters never prosper in the end as my Little gran always used to say.

Three cheers to you hip hip.....

23 Sep, 2008

OMG how sad some people are TT iv just seen this &im so sorry u had your 1st prize Sheild stolen :/Big Hugs 2 both of u 4 doing so well On Saturday & BBBBBBBBbbbbboooooooooo Bbbbboooooooooooooo 2 the Theaf who stole ur Lovely Prize, Makes me so Bloody Angry that theres really people out there who do thing like this,I mean how can they go home&feel good about stealing something they didnt Win/Earn :/MADNESS

24 Sep, 2008

There MIGHT be good news on the trophy.
I hear the show organiser hopes to have a replica engraved. :o)
Fingers crossed................
I'll report back here.

24 Sep, 2008

Only eleven to go before the flag er, photo.
I'm getting cold feet now.

Poaannua seems keen to know what's at the end of Cow Watering Lane....

24 Sep, 2008

Make that 12 tt ;) have u seen how many comments there are on your Olimpics Blog? its fantastic :O

24 Sep, 2008

Jacque ~
On my Olympics blog,
should I aim for 2012 comments by the year 2012 ? Lol :o)

By then you'll have uploaded 20,120 photos. Lol.

24 Sep, 2008

what a shame we cant like pics/blogs more than once Hey Wellie Team ;) "Surspence is killing me 2 now ":/

24 Sep, 2008

Iv only been a member since Feb this yr TT ! i think i may have the Most Blogs 2?lol Do u think its a record?i bet your Blog Is :)

24 Sep, 2008

Have you noticed that sometimes Irish has her 'like' registered twice under a photo? Must be some technical thing. Luck of the Irish. Lol

Currently Peter has 70 blogs and Ajay has 51.
Jacque - you're catching them up fast ! :o)

24 Sep, 2008

Now I've 'liked' your photo I reckon you need to get onto facebook and add it to my 'Funny/Strange/Makes You Think Signs And Shirts' group!
(And that's one of the more normal groups I run!)

25 Sep, 2008

Gillian ~ Congrats.
You've made the total of likes up to 13...

Facebook ! ~ so now I know where you found our "Cow Tipping" Team T-Shirts, so proudly displayed on my photo favourites.

I was recently able to assess your level of normality when I saw your photo of a gnome wearing a skirt and a big fancy bow.

Maybe an effect of something dodgy in the water of St Ann's Lake, Chertsey, in your formative years?

Good news though - only 8 likes to go. :o)

25 Sep, 2008

Only gardened at Chertsey, I'm Hersham born and bred.
Personally I've always found normal to be pretty boring - have to admit I was considering this morning what outfits would suit the other gnomes.

25 Sep, 2008

Cow Watering and gardening near St Ann's Lake could have been sufficient to cause irreparable harm.

Have you seen the gnomes in Catfinch's shop photo?
Not yet in fancy dress....

25 Sep, 2008

On my way to look.....

25 Sep, 2008

Just gave you the 16th like Terratoonie... Good luck for your 20th :)

26 Sep, 2008

Great picture and its nice to read the many comments you have received!

I noticed a point you mentioned on Michaella’s page about planting heathers in the ‘right’ compost..... I’m interested because I’ve just planted some out in pots and used John Innes No 3.... I guess I should have used an acid based soil???

Have a good doggy tricky-training weekend. Marion

26 Sep, 2008

Mikec ~
Thanks for clicking the 'like' -
I guess technically to 'exceed 20',
the pic. needs 21 likes ~
Will it get there before 2012 ?

With all your experience making your fantastic pond,
you would be the ideal man for the Wellie Olympics triathlon.
All athletes get the bonus of Flcrazy as both Health Consultant and Pin-Up Girl ~
How can you refuse? Lol

26 Sep, 2008

Reflection ~
Glad to have your interest in the Training Route photo.
You say it's a great picture.
Sorry the road sign isn't in Welsh too, but maybe you could please click it a 'like' anyway. Lol :o)

Regarding compost for Erica, there are others on GoY who can answer you question far better than me. If you haven't already done so, I'll put the question under Michaella's pottery window box photo and see if that gets response.

I do know that some types of Erica are more tolerant than others to not being in acid soil. This is the Erica info. from my RHS plant book:

Grow in well-drained acid soil in an open site in full sun.
A few winter- and spring- flowering types such as E.carnea and E. x darleyensis, will tolerate a slightly alkaline (limy) soil, as will summer-flowering E.manipuliflora, E.terminalis and E.vagans.

I hope this helps. I'm hopping over the Michaella's photos now to put a question about her compost!

The outdoor charity dog show season is sadly almost at an end for this year, but certainly, this weekend, my dogs will be competing in the trick events again, and the forecast is sunny! :o)

26 Sep, 2008

Catfinch ~
So glad you found my photo.
Thanks for the 14th like. :o)
Getting there now......

26 Sep, 2008

Ams
Ams

There you are TT - 17.

26 Sep, 2008

Sounds good to me Ams.
Amazingly you're the first person choosing to compete in Wellie Ollies.
Please volunteer with a few more details over on my Wellie blog.
PS Congrats. on my 17th..... :o)

26 Sep, 2008

Reflection ~
Scotkat is heading to this photo later today, and will make some comments about compost for containers. She also says that her next containers project will be alpines. I hope this helps. :o)

26 Sep, 2008

Ooooh wonder who will click on 20 !!!!!

26 Sep, 2008

Thanks, Youngdaisydee.
It needs 'over 20', so I guess I must wait for click number 21.
:o)

26 Sep, 2008

26 Sep, 2008

GoY Wellie Olympians bending the rules ?

26 Sep, 2008

Yes ~ the 'likes' are on the right. Lol

26 Sep, 2008

Hahaha, im a right Airhead tonight..

26 Sep, 2008

Airhead ~
just what we need for the Wellie Olympic Team.
Why not volunteer?
We haven't got anyone for the Walking On Air race.
If you wore wellies, with your Airhead you'd be sure to win. :o)

26 Sep, 2008

Yeah go on then, ill just float right through it :))

26 Sep, 2008

Okay. That's great.
Please go over to Wellie Olympics blog and say you're in the Walking On Air race. You'll float all the way to the finishing line.
I'll sign off now, or I'll never get ready for my dog show ! :o)

26 Sep, 2008

Caught up with this blog today, so you're at 20 now TT.
Hope you got the next photo ready!

27 Sep, 2008

Ha! You made it!

27 Sep, 2008

Not quite Gillian, TT needs 'over 20' so we're waiting for click 21!
Surely can't be long....

27 Sep, 2008

When I go to the GOY site there's your photo staring me in the face - doesn't that mean you made it?

27 Sep, 2008

That was what I thought, 'till I saw TT's comment from yesterday bout waiting for click 21 ...:)

27 Sep, 2008

That's 21 likes!! Loved all the comments - shows there are a lot of decent people out there. Then, of course, they wouldn't be on GOY if they weren't would they?

28 Sep, 2008

It's got 21 clicks you're there TT. Hooray. Now the next installment can start.

28 Sep, 2008

Thats interesting 2 of us spotted the 21 clicks at the same time. Magnolias comment wasn't thre when I started to write mine.

28 Sep, 2008

Fellow GoY Olympians ~
Well done athletes.
We've reached the magic total of 21 likes.

The promised photo of the alleged GoY Olympics Training HQ will very soon appear.

Slight delay as I'm coping with a plumbing emergency of water seeping from my upstairs bathroom into the my studio down here. More a situation of Loo Watering than Moo Watering. :o) :o) :o)

Good news on another topic. Thanks to all those such as Terry60, Arlene, Fifi, Jacque, Lyd and Islander who gave words of encouragement when my Sheltie's Best Tricks trophy was stolen at the dog show last week. The organiser has kindly sent a replacement. I need to get engraving done similar to the original, but that can be sorted. Yesterday at another show, my 13 year old Welsh Terrier won Best Veteran trophy and Best Tricks trophy ... and neither were stolen, so things are looking up.

Now I'm looking up at that leaky ceiling, so I'll report back here soon. :o)

28 Sep, 2008

Sorry about the plumbing but great about Your Welsh Terriers success-what goes around comes around-you will find your thief does not prosper!
Regards
Arlene

28 Sep, 2008

On my blog : Beg, Steal or Borrow, I mention my good neighbours, Lamp-post Man and Pyjama Man. Lamp-post Man gave me the pretty Autumn Crocus.
Pyjama Man is a plumber. Useful when you have a Loo Tipping situation.
He seems to have fixed it. So, fingers crossed my downstairs wallpaper now dries out. :o)

Good news ~
GoY Wellie Olympian's alleged Training HQ photo now on its way......

28 Sep, 2008

28 Sep, 2008

Lyd ~ This is great news.
Could you please volunteer for this demanding event over on my Wellie Olympics blog?
To welcome you, we might well start planning a special Hallowe'en party. :o)

28 Sep, 2008

Oooh! Can i come?

28 Sep, 2008

Only if during the month of October, you post a suitable photo of a pumpkin.
That's the rule.
If your photo deemed acceptable, then your party invitation will follow. :o)

I know where this is TT, i went to hort college in cow watering lane, the name of the campus was cow watering campus.i won't give away the college name, but CW campus. was for floristry and dog grooming students..am i right?

30 Jan, 2009

Hi Ang ~ You are right. :o)
There is quite an extensive campus further up the road, as far as I can recall.
If you look at the next photo of Grenville Nurseries, that is actually in Cow Watering Lane, but not as far along as the campus. :o)
But please don't tell the Flower Pot People :o(

30 Jan, 2009

you are an essex girl i do believe!!!! lol well you little dark horse now i know where you are from, nice quaint little village called Writtle by any chance? lol

30 Jan, 2009

No, not an Essex girl, but some of my very best friends from the dog show world are Essex people and they are really lovely. :o)

30 Jan, 2009

so what were you doing in Writtle then TT? Essex Show?... i used to go to Writtle college and trained on CW campus...i often used to take ~Buddy my dearly departed friend with me to be pruned and preened while i was studying in the dog grooming suite....so where abouts are you from then?

30 Jan, 2009

That was nice that Buddy could get a hair-do while you were studying.
Yes, there are quite a lot of dog shows in Essex.
I'll message privately where I live. :o)

30 Jan, 2009

Tee hee... just found Cow Watering Lane....
