Thanks, me too. It was the only one there, so I scooped it up. A lot of people were eye-balling it. I think that it multiplies like crazy. It's got little babies on the side already. I put it in a large blue pot.

I have similar coloured cannas in the garden and they are just putting up blooms after taking a long time to recover from the cold spring...I think I'll pot them up and bring them in before frost...will have to find some nice huge containers first though!! The orange tropicanna and a red dwarf have already finished...their seed pods are really interesting and the seed would make terrific beads but the are hard a rocks!

Lori- I'll have to keep an eye out for the seed pods. Are the seeds hard as soon as the develop? Maybe it's possible to drill them before they harden...

They turn black and look like ebony beads ...they are very hard....but when soft and young they are encased in a jacket very similar in shape and covered with stiff bristles like a hazelnut!... They are very iteresting features unto themselves... will have to post a pic...

Hi Lori- I posted a picture of my canna seed pods...I think. They're green bumpy looking things. Do they eventually fall off the plant? Does the 'jacket' fall off itself? Thanks for telling me about them. I bet if I gently put them in a vice, that I can drill them for a bead.

Where there's a will ~~ there's a way!! I cut the seedhead and brought them inside to dry. they dried of a piece. so I broke them open to get the seeds out. good luck with the drill...lol. careful now!
