Caryota gigas - Giant Thai Mountain Fishtail Palm

The is the largest fishtail palm species in the world. Its leaves can be over 30 feet long and 25+ feet wide and stands over 100 feet. It is a true giant! It is a very, very popular tree in Southern California for people who have a large enough lot for this tree. This tree would take up a whole property in most of the urban properties in San Diego, CA.

By the way in the species name gigas, the "g" is pronounced like an "h".
