Strawberry Snowball Tree is native to Madagascar and blooms in winter. It is a fast growing tree to 50 feet that was introduced to California in the late 1950's to The Huntington Gardens in San Marino. Now it is a popular tree in California because of the winter flowers. It will only tolerate temperatures down to around 25 degrees F. briefly though.

If you could see this tree in person you would know why it is called the Strawberry Snowball Tree. Unfortunately, my pictures really can't show the true colors of the flowers.
