I grew a few from seed this year, and they are turning the most beautiful red. I presume these are native to Russia since they are called the Amur Maple. The Amur river and region is in the far east of Russia and the river is the border with China. It's further east than Siberia and just as cold. I know this for a fact because I have been there quite a few times in the middle of winter.
