The Dogs Trust used to be called The National Canine Defence League.
It is one of many dog rescue organisations in the U.K.

ok, here we have, in additon to spca, beaglepaws and heavenlycreatures..they are not pound rescue groups, but have people foster the animals until an appropriate home is found...

In Britain there are many specific breed rescue groups, similar to AireCanada, the Airedale Terrier rescue organisation in Canada. These often foster dogs until homes can be found. The larger organisations such as Dogs Trust, have large kennel establishments spread across GB, in which dogs stay until they are adopted.

Lovely dog - not daft, are they - our pets? They always know where to be comfortable, don't they?
