Astilbe

Down the side border the Astilbe looks fantastic in summer and winter.. slugs don't like it though :-)

This happened quite by accident as I couldn't get anything else to grow there! This pic shows them after flowering but when the are in flower they are fantastic, pink, red and white almost fluffy and like polystyrene! I leave the flowers on because they look so lovely on a frosty morning.

My question has been answered! I have had lilac astilbes..they are nice!

Love the effect of the massed astilbe, I don't think I've ever seen it used like that before.
