Blue Ginger is not a true ginger. It is the same family as the Wandering Jew Plant (Tradescantia) which is Commelinaceae.
These plants can grow to almost 10 feet tall and branch unlike true gingers.

You're welcome.
This is an easy plant to grow...I have one in a pot because I haven't figured out where to plant it yet. Also, they grow easily from cuttings.

No, they don't have any scent at all. It isn't even in the ginger family...it's related to the Wondering Jew plant. Go figure! I'll have to find out why it is called blue ginger.

I'll bet the reason is because of the plant's physical appearance only. The leaves, stalk and shape of the bloom look like hedychium ginger plants.
