Yes they are the seed pods , they start off white... after a while they get bigger and split the outer shell showing the orange seed pod inside , I have never seen the birds eat them I presume they don,t like them , the shrub was here when we came , it is on a fence it,s about 7ft tall and as wide as I will let it go , it really is a picture it is completely covered in these pods , It dosn,t look anything for the rest of the year . :0)
