Michelia champaca - Champak Tree

Champak Tree is native to Southeast Asia...Michelia species are so popular here, everyone wants one, however, they are very expense trees to purchase. The are an extremely fragrant tree that starts blooming in Fall...they are also fast growing. Pic taken at S.D.S.U.

These trees are so common and sought after that they grow well outside of their safe zones. USDA safe zones are 10B - 11, however, they are grown in 9b - 10a. They are usually killed or badly damaged at 26 degrees F. (-3 degrees C.)
