This tree at SDSU has had its thorns removed on the trunk. This is common practice in areas where many people walk by.

Yes, it does. I think they grind down the thorn tips or cut them...I'm not sure.

It doesn't rain enough here for it to be drops of water. LOL.

The thorns are usually pretty large 1 inch long.

It would be good to see a photo of the thorns.
We get lots of rain here - more than any other type of weather I think. I usually like the rain though. It makes me feel comfortable.
