There a few cancer research about the purple Ipe, going on here in south Brazil.
The tea prepared with the bark is used as anti-inflammatory and for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

No, Marguerite, its an Ipê (Tabebuia impetiginosa). I'm waiting for the Jacaranda blossoming and i'll take some pictures to post here... they are gorgeous... a red explosion...:o)

It is realy a Jacarandá... the ipês are a bit more rounded flowers and their purple has a rosed hue.
