I shake the seeds from the head, to make sure they don't lodge there and will spread. But you're not doing anything different than what nature would have done....

I bought several packs of seeds and spread some of my own in that little area last year....Hope I get the same results next year!

Newfienurse, since you have so many poppies there, you might know. I tidied my friend's garden for her, she had a lot of dried poppy heads, I took most of them. I just scattered them all at the back of my borders, do you think they will grow? Thanks!
