Yes Marguerite, this is Sicily - my father was born in this town and poverty drove him to UK in 1949 (lots went to Argentina, Venezuela and of course Australia). He went to join his elder brother who was a POW in England and upon release at the end of the war, was given the option of staying, which of course he did.
He then met my mother who happened to be over in Uk for a few months - she came from a place near Rome. They married and contentedly spent the rest of their lives in Cheshire, which is where they are now resting.
My sister and I were born and grew up in UK (which is where she is still living) and I have only been to Sicily a handful of times - we used to visit my mother's relations more often - so Marguerite that's why this trip has been so memorable .... helping me to find my roots
