Thank You both.It was the hardest thing we havew ever had to do and looking at her in this photo you wouldn't think there was anything wrong with her,but the Arthritis that she had had got to the stage where she couldn't even get up from that position without her crying out and when we did help her up she couldn't even walk without falling back down.

It wasn't fair to let her go on and the vet said that even with the strongest medicine available she would have only lasted another two weeks in complete agony...

Bless her, we love our animals so much but there's lots of heart ache attached too. When we had our Dobermann (Arnie) put to sleep, I said, "No more dogs, can't go through this again", but 6 weeks later we had an eight week old puppy, our black labrador Bonnie. It doesnt bring the old dog back but helps ....

oh! I wanted to ask you about the dog photo that shows up here, but was half afraid to ask, as had the feeling that he/she was no longer with you.
Am so sorry you had to part with her, she looks like a wonderful friend. It's so sad when we have to part with these much loved pets. My daughter is just going thru this now, with her Saint Bernard. I don't know if she's "gone" now or not, but the vet said she could go at any time, a few days ago.
And our oldest Lab, Maggie, is 12 now, and her hind legs are none too steady, and yet in herself, she's fine. I dread the day when we'll have to part with her.
