10F and the steam ploom in the center of town is already prominent. This is the valley that greats me each morning as I go to work. how tall the ploom gets shows the temp, the shorter, the colder.

On a cold day there's more of them and they all flatten on the top. Hope I can get a pic that shows the stillness of a day that cold. You keep warm in arizona for me GG! :-)

No problem doing that Greenthumb; we're still experiencing temperatures in the 80's and it's predicted to be more of the same for a few more weeks to come. It confuses some of the bulbs. I have bulbs growing now that are listed as spring flowering. I have learned to enjoy whatever comes up whenever it comes up on schedule or nay. Lol.

My folks are near St George Utah, I hear about their garden doing things like that. Double seasons and such. Indoor I get to observe that phenomena. I'd love it but I can't give up all this space!

Now that looks raw to me. You have such cold weather and so soon. I don't think I would survive.

And this is a warm winter day Hywel. :-) Mt Mckinley is just over the city on the Horizon, when it shows itself. We get used to the cold, the dark is harder. Come feb, a raise in temp to 10F and we're in shorts and still sweating....lol.

It's a lovely view but I just couldn't get used to the cold.
It gets dark early here in winter and I'm not bothered much by that, but cold is something I hate. I like our mild wet winters.
Roll on Feb for you then ! lol

it's always interesting to see the difference in light at the high latitudes. That looks seriously cold though. It looks like sunrise (going to work) but when is sunset?

Just 10F. There's a big hill on the east of town, so direct sun is late. Rising about 830-9 and setting around 5-530. Come december it rises around 1030 and sets at 330. Wont even shine at my house.

What a fabulous view of skyline and steam plume, even though the sky has a pinky tinge you can almost feel the coldness seeping through. Very interesting to hear about the steam plume...

Neat view of the steam ploom. Thanks for sharing; this is probably as close as I'll ever get to Alaska!
