This is a very large tree-type Philodendron. It is a very common landscape plant in California. It grows quickly and generally grows in semi-shade to full sun along the coast.

These plants are commonly grown in temperate zones as a house plant.
Of course, it will not grow this large in a pot...but it can get fairly large, may be 2 or 3 feet. This plant will grow to 16 - 18+ feet tall in the ground.
