I think I'll have to switch to container gardening, it's easier when you move than digging and potting everything you want to take with you!

Hi Milky, I'm puzzled as to why you grow your shrubs in pots when you could grow them in the ground. Is it because you like to enjoy them closer to eye level? Most of my garden is of plants in pots and containers, but really because it has to be. My garden is little more than just a patio, and there is little actual ground available for me to plant into. I find it is always a bit of a struggle gardening this way. Getting the nutrient level right in a pot is always tricky, as is maintaining ample and even moisture supply. Do you stand your pots on bricks so as to aid drainage beneath them?
With best wishes, JONATHAN H.

Hi Johnathan, my shrubs are mostly in pots, because quite honestly, the borders are not wide enough.......I married Ray, affectinonately known on this site as Sleeping Partner, 6 years ago and moved into the home he has had for 43 years. His paths, that he laid are laid on top of concrete paths that were already there. I have been trying my best, {because he moans about all the pots} to get him to widen the borders for me, but he says that at 66 years old its too much hard work to do......Thats why my plants and some shrubs are in the pots, and I turn a deaf ear to his moans about the pots.... They are stood on bricks to aid the drainage, and it does make a little more work for me, making sure they are all healthy. Believe me Johnathan, If I had the strength to move the path myself, I would do so, but I tried, and I cant even manouver one of the slabs. So hey ho .....Pots it is..............
