I get lots of birds in my garden, but i cannot get close enough to take photos as the fly away. Think i need a camera that can take closer photo's than mine, but i only got this camera this summer to learn how to use a dizzy camera, might treat myself to a better one after xmas.

Lovely photo Irish.I have one that comes into my garden because I put seed and nuts out for the birds. It took ages last year to get a photo of him and was really pleased with the result but he didn't look as good as your little chap.

We are lucky enough to have a kingfisher visit our pond, on a daily basis! Dont know if I'll ever get a photo of him though :( Someone told me its a good idea to put a post or push an overhanging twig in the pond as they like to sit and dive for the fish. Well, yesterday, when walking Bonnie, I rounded the corner, looked at the post, and there he was. I froze, darent move in case I scared him, Bonnie carried on walking but the king fisher stayed, I crouched down to be less conspicious and watched, then Bonnie saw me crouched down, thought this is a good game, charged at me and nearly knocked me over. I calmed her down, still crouched and watched the king fisher for a couple of mins until off he went, chirping, on his way.

aww Brilliant, how lucky you are to have him visit you.
i can just imagine Bonnie tho thinking you were crouched down because you wanted to play a game lol. hopefully you will get a photo of him one day

Let's hope .... have you seen one Irish? I hadnt until a couple of years ago, the blue is so bright in contrast to the rusty coloured underside. They are very shy yet make loads of noise, in fact we know when he's around because we hear him before we see him. Apparently they like to feed on minnows and we have lots of them in the pond. Poor fish but lucky king fisher!
