10-12-08 Autumn has arrived. Trees are starting to turn.

Hubby and I went out on the lake, fishing for crappie and blue gills. I took the camera and got a few pics of the trees that were starting to turn.

Glorious colours beautifully captured .

Dont know what a crappie is but means something quite different here.

Crappie ? lol . What's that ?. It's obviously not the same meaning as here.

The lake looks so still. It must have been wonderful to go on it in a boat.

On second thought, maybe Janette does know what she's missing, if eating alot of crappie, makes everyone act like I do, they probably wouldn't want to eat it either....lol. I may have to become a vegatarian...

The pic is wonderful.. love the calm water and the cool blue sky...as for crappies... they look like a cross of a bass and a perch, My brother caught one that was considered huge for a crappie...it was about 16 inches long...he had it mounted. He was an avid fisherman...loved crappies also held records for lake trout and speckled trout. Loved to cook and serve what he caught. Do you fish from a canoe or a skiff?

Thanks Lori, luckily there isn't much traffic on this lake, mostly just the people who live on it fish there. Hubby has a small 16 ft flatbottom john boat with a 18 hp motor. We would kill ourselves in a canoe...neither of us are that coordinated . Wow..., a 16 inch crappie is huge....! Can't wait to tell hubby, it wil get his competitive juices flowing...hahaha. By the way how much did the fish weigh?

This is hubby and I can't stand for it, will run out and get gas now!!! No all joking aside that is a pretty impressive fish, more so when you consider the length of time the fish has to grow in your neck of the woods.By the way thank you all very much for taking my wifey in.lol

will have to call my sister-in-law and ask her for particulars...my brother has been gone eight years now! He's happily fishing somewhere at a higher elevation! Caused quite a stir when he caught it... will find out exactly where he was fishing and let you know! Tell hubby he can join the fish derby!

Oh no Lori, sorry to hear that ! Please don't bother her if you think it would bring up memories she might rather not think about. It's making my eyes water up, just thinking I might cause her cry over bittersweet memories.

I will work it into the conversation in a very gentle way...no need to worry...I touch base with her regularly...she's at the stage in life where she lives in her memories...not a bad stage really. She's a very strong, smart lady and she loves to talk...I love to listen...so it's not a problem at all.
