I love this with the blues and purples.
Please could you write a little more below about these flowers?
Thanks.

Whirligigs are a sub tropical evergreen subshrub that is in the ostospermum family (cape daisy). They will grow to around 40cm tall and will last through the winter so long as the temp doesn't get below -2 C. Here where I live, they are considered annuals. They need very well drained soil, so I leave them in a pot. They also need a fair amount of sunshine to keep the ends of the blooms twisted. If we have several days of cloudy weather, the petals will revert to normal looking daisy-like blooms for me.This variety of ostospermum's blooms are sterile too, so there is no use in collecting it's seeds, but it does propagate easily from cuttings.I believe I remember seeing other posts of these this spring from some of the UK gardens, so I know they will grow and bloom there, I just don't know if they would be considered hard to grow. Hope this helps, maybe someone will read this post who has grown them in your area, and will be able to let you know how well they fare over there.

Flcrazy ~ thanks.
I'd not heard of these before.
Seems like they can survive in the UK.
I understand now about how the sun effects the petals.
Thanks for all the info. :o)
