Canna tropicanna

Canna tropicanna

SIx foot tall on the catwalk and bursting with bloom. I've got three new shoots coming up, I don't know if it'll need winter at all. We'll see.

Thanks Janette! Such a joy with things getting unmentionable outside. :-)

Absolutelly gorgeous! Thats incredible how you get flowers blooming inside, even with the lack of natural light. Very nice

This is really nice Greenthumb.I have never thought of growing one indoors.I have mine in the greenhouse until June then put it into the border out in the garden, but up to yet have never flowered.I will have to try your idea and see what happens...

If you bring them indoors Tina in feb or march to get them started they might be blooming when summer arrives. Just need plenty of light once they are spreading their leaves.

Thankyou for the inspiration and hope, GT!.... mine has ceased blooming but I think that's just because of transplant shock...I've moved mine near the lights and there is new growth...so I'm crossing my fingers...it will be great if you can keep it happy through the winter!!

Lori, I've had a good 7-10 of blooming on each stalk, then there is only growth. This one is right under the light and the temp on the catwalk never goes below 65. I'm guessing if it starts looking like winter is being too hard on it, move it somewhere cool to die back and put the pot with your bulbs. It might even just sleep from the lack of light and start sprouting back up in feb or march just from the house warmth. Good luck, fingers crossed! :-)
