Oh that's horrible.
Sorry, I don't mean to offend you but these photos are making me feel miserable.
I hate frost and snow.

Hywel ~ I've just watched weather forecast on TV and looks like it will be sunny in the West Midlands for filming at Four Seasons today. :o)

Good. I hope it melts all that stuff away before the filming starts. I hope there isn't too much damage done too.

It will be a matter of planning on the hoof for the film crew. It does look like a winter scene out there - when they were coming to film the autumn colour!
It reminds me of the day before the final judging for the Daily Mail National Garden Competition in 2007. It was 30 May and I had just finished planting the containers with Bizzie Lizzies and went off to a garden centre to get some final item. I looked at the sky - I'd never seen one like it - and then the heavens opened with 1cm hailstones which completely covered the road. I tried to drive home to rescue the plants but the car was skidding all over the place. When my husband got home from work I told him of the destruction wreaked on the plants - they were shot to pieces. He put his arm around me and said "That's not the worst of it - the forecast is -1 tonight!" We worked until 1am covering with fleece the acers with their new leaves. It worked - and the bruising from the hailstone only showed up four days later.

Wow ~ and I guess that was in the 'olden days' before the amazing invention of gardener's head lamps. So glad the hail didn't spoil your chances in the competition. You two are such a great team. :o)

I would find it so disheartening. Good job you don't give up.

It's only a problem if both of us are low, which is unusual. Normally, when one of us flags, the other rallies!
When we married in 1975 it was a very dry winter. We lived in Birmingham then and set up flood lights in the garden in January so that we could riddle the soil to prepare a lawn. The ground was so dry it was like dust!
In 2001 we were in this house and were making the cascade area of our stream. It was October and we were going to China for three weeks so to beat the dark, and to gain some extra time, we set up a gazebo strung with lights so that we could work into the early hours!
