Sandra,
Which varieties do you grow?
I grow Mysore, White Iholena, Golden Fingers, Super Dwarf , Ice Cream and Ae, Ae which is an extremely rare Hawaiian variety. My best tasting bananas are Mysore (a lady finger banana and is the sweetest and my #1 favorite), Super Dwarf also very sweet, Golden Fingers somewhat sweet and White Iholena semi-sweet, My Ice Cream variety is relatively new and hasn't fruited yet and the same with Ae, Ae. I usually have bananas on my plants ripening all year. I have my banana pics posted in my earlier photos.

Delonix1 ~
Are you able to write a blog incorporating some of your banana plant photos?
Would that be too much work?
They have such lovely names ~ Super Dwarf, Golden Fingers, Ice Cream. :o)

I have an ice cream banana but it's not very big yet...used to have two but one froze last year and never came back..the other one did so I plan to protect it this year..

Sandra, my neighbor has large ice cream bananas; he said they are very sweet and grow in huge bunches. I asked for bananas when his current bunches of bananas ripen (he has many).
Terratoonie, I will eventually write some blogs...I really enjoy showing photos and making comments though.
Skippy, if your soil freezes more than 1/4 inch deep most bananas but the hardiest will usually die. You can put a very thick mulch over the soil though.
