Another weird but wonderful flower.

I can see exactly why it is called Claw Flower. :o)

Heliconia is synonymous with the tropics. We grow many species here in San Diego, however, the choices are even larger in the hot, humid tropics.

The bracts and flowers are very attractive...however, most people don't enjoy the colorful seeds.

As far as I know they are only edible by birds, not humans.
