Tons of humidity too? I love the look of thunderheads...

Catfinch,

Occasionally we get the showers from these storms, however, most of the time we just get the heat and humidity...

Sandra, Terratoonie:

Unfortunately, many parts of this picture were cut off when I uploaded it...to the far right there was a large clump of Epidendron orange orchids and Norfolk Island Pine and a huge morning glory to the left. But of course, you get a great view of the power lines...LOL.

Yes, I've noticed that often the left and right edges of a photo don't appear on GoY. At least the power lines give an idea of the size of the trees! Lol.

Yes, the Mexican Fan Palms (Washingtonia robusta) are about 100 feet (30 meters) tall. They commonly grow this tall though.

With your wonderful photos, sometimes the hardest part for others to interpret is the size and height of the trees and shrubs. It was interesting to see your photos where you were standing in the picture. Gave an immediate idea of the tree size.

Maybe if at zoos etc. you can photograph animals and trees in the same picture, this will give a better idea of the actual size of the surrounding greenery. Just a thought. Not a complaint . Lol
Your pics are fantastic anyway !

In the right foreground...what tree is that? Is it a Norfolk Island Pine?

10 Nov, 2008

Yes, it's a Norfolk Island Pine. There's thousands around here.
I have an 80 foot (25 meters) tree in my front yard...Yuck! They're very, very messy.

I like the tree but not the mess.

Lori,

Yes, they can be beautiful from a distance.

Sorry, I've repeated myself...I've responded to so many pics...I can't
remember what I've commented on in the past. LOL.

I fear I've done that myself...more than once probably...gardening in California must be amazing. I've enjoyed looking at your pics...

Lori,

Thanks for all your comments. I'm glad you've enjoyed my pics. I hope to be posting more blooming vines, trees and shrubs in the near future. In the next couple of months (Winter) many interesting plants will be blooming.

It is nice to have all year gardening in San Diego. I do love it!
